Marathon

The marathon starts in the centre of Bury St Edmunds on the historic Angel Hill, adjacent to the famous cathedral, leaving the town via Eastgate Street and Mount Road and then passing through the new Moreton Hall Estate.

It then becomes a very rural run, passing through, or skirting the villages of Great Barton, Pakenham, Thurston, Norton, Tostock, Drinkstone, Drinkstone Green, Felsham, Maypole Green and Little Whelnetham, before winding its way to the finish on Rushbrooke Lane.

The course is slightly undulating with a good running surface all the way round.

The 2011 event will be on May 1st, hosted by the Rugby Club. There will be a half-marathon (starting in the Abbey Gardens and finishing near the Rugby Club) for runners and three lengths of Challenge Walk (starting and finishing at the Rugby Club).
